NASHVILLE, TN. (Lonesome Day Records/ www.randykohrs.net) - Lonesome Day Records officially releases the new bluegrass album I'm Torn by Randy Kohrs on
September 28, 2004 Station Inn in Nashville, Tennessee. Although this is Kohr's fourth solo project, this is his first all-bluegrass album.
Lonesome Day Records President, Randall Deaton is very enthusiastic about this project and stated, 'For many years Randy Kohrs has been known as an exceptional musician. His mastery of the slide guitar has landed him on nearly 300 albums and on stage along side such folks as Tom T. Hall, John Cowan, and Reba McIntyre to name just a few. With the release of I'm Torn, people will now know what world-class musicians and singers have known for years - Randy is as much an accomplished vocalist as he is a musician. His voice is filled with soul and an urgency that tells the listener that he means everything is he singing. This project also proves that Randy is an accomplished songwriter that can tell a story that everyone can understand, yet still be very unique. Look for great things from Randy Kohrs in the next year.'
Randy previously toured the world with Country Music Legend Dolly Parton performing in her band The Blueniques. Dolly gave Randy the opportunity and exposure of being the opening act on her first tour in a decade. I'm Torn features a duet with Dolly entitled It Looked Good on Paper. Dolly raved, "There's no limit to Randy's talent. What a great, great CD. You will love this. I was very proud to be a small part of it."
Kohrs extensive career also includes touring with the group Continental Divide and most recently providing both voice and instrumentals to recordings as diverse as the current Hank Thompson album Hank and Friends to Livin' Lovin' and Losin ' Songs of the Louvin Brothers.
Kohrs provides his talents on a number of television specials including, Hank the III; PBS special with Ricky Skaggs; Austin City Limits with Patty Loveless; Prime Time Country with Tom T. Hall; TNN's Grand Ole Opry, Live with Dolly Parton and Holly Dunn; CMT's Western Beat with Hal Ketchem; The Today Show, Late Night with David Lettermen and The Tonight Show with Dolly Parton.
'I'm Toorn ought to alert a lot of new folks to what the rest of us already know: that Randy Kohrs is a talent to be reckoned with. Offering hard-driving bluegrass, polished ballads, distinctive melodies and riveting performances by guests ranging from Dolly Parton to some impressive up-and-coming youngsters, I'm Torn reveals Kohrs as a compelling singer and unique instrumental stylist. For anyone interested in state-of-the-art bluegrass, it's a must-have.' ~
