Music Association/ www.cmaworld.com) - The star-packed lineup for "The 38th Annual CMA Awards" is taking shape with the announcement today that six-time CMA Awards nominee
Toby Keith will perform when the CMA Awards airs at 8:00 PM/EST, Tuesday, Nov. 9 on the CBS Television Network live from the Grand Ole Opry House in Nashville, Tenn. Joining Keith on the list of performers will be show hosts
Brooks & Dunn and special guest Shania Twain.
"We have such a strong slate of nominees and an incredible pool of music to draw from," said CMA Executive
Director Ed Benson. "And we are dedicated to delivering the best-of-the-best during the three-hour gala. It's rewarding and exciting to see it beginning to take shape."
Keith won his first CMA Award in 2001 in the highly competitive Male Vocalist of the Year category. In 2004, Keith is nominated in that category again along with Entertainer; Album for Shock'N Y'all; Single and Music Video of the Year for "I Love This Bar"; and Musical Event for Jimmy Buffett's ensemble celebration of the Hank Williams' classic "Hey Good Lookin'" from Buffett's License to Chill album. Keith could pick up two additional Awards as producer of his nominated single and album, which has sold nearly four million copies since last November.
Brooks & Dunn are not only hosting the 2004 CMA Awards, they are performing. Ronnie Dunn and Kix Brooks have been in the Grand Ole Opry House collecting CMA Awards since 1992. That was the year they won their first of 11 Duo of the Year Awards - a CMA Awards record. The 27-million selling pair also won the prestigious CMA Entertainer of the Year in 1996 and they are nominated in that category again in 2004 along with Duo and Album of the Year for their million-selling Red Dirt Road.
Twain, who was named CMA Entertainer of the Year in 1999, will also be performing in addition to being a special guest. Her most recent album Up! has earned Diamond (10X Platinum) album sales certification by the Recording Industry Association of America. In fact, she is the only artist in history to have three consecutive 10X Platinum certified albums: The Woman in Me (12X Platinum), Come On Over (19X Platinum) and Up!.
The CMA Awards are produced by Walter C. Miller, directed by Paul Miller and scripted by David Wild.
