NASHVILLE, TN. (Wonderment Records) - Royal Wade Kimes recently performed at the Golden Boot Award's Pre-Party in Universal City, CA. Wade was among an impressive entertainment line-up that included past Golden Boot Honoree Herb Jeffries. Kimes was humbled when the crowd enthusiastically received the rendition of his new single 'Feeling Stud.' In his own words, "They were a group of cowboys that knew exactly what I was singing about!" This is referring to Kimes' feeling that there are too many songs on the radio that treat men unfairly. The 2004 Honorees were Val Kilmer, Scott Glenn, Randy Quaid, Robert Horton, Pat Hingle, Rob Word, and the late Johnny Mack Brown. Hollywood icons Sidney Poitier and Fess Parker were among the award's presenters. The Golden Boot Award was conceived in the early 1980's to recognize the achievements of cowboy film heroes and heroines, as well as writers, directors, stunt people, and character actors who had significant involvement in the film and TV western. Previous honorees include Roy Rogers, President Ronald Reagan, John Wayne, Sons of the Pioneers, and Kris Kristofferson. Proceeds from the event go to the California-based Motion Picture and Television Fund. Kimes' current album on Wonderment Records entitled Cowboy Cool continues to receive critical acclaim.
