NASHVILLE, TN. (Vivaton Records) - Thousands of Florida residents have suffered over the loss of their homes, the mass shutdown of businesses that have left them without jobs, the loss of loved ones, and insured losses of anywhere between $10 billion to $14 billion, according to industry estimates released on Monday. Many Floridians who remain without power and water have been forced to depart their homes to find comfort from the heat with family or friends or in a hotels located more than a hundred or more miles away while services are gradually - and sporadically – being restored. The death count to date currently stands at 19. In a personal effort to offer some assistance to the residents of Florida who have suffered from the rampage of Hurricane Charley, Mark Chesnutt has immediately offered his talents to headline a concert for the benefit of the Red Cross & Salvation Army. The benefit concert event will be held the evening of Sunday, September 19, 2004 at The Ricochet in South Fort Myers and presented by radio station WCKT (Cat Country 100.1) in Ft. Myers, FL which is one of the areas hardiest hit by Charley's 145-mph winds. 'This is a tragic situation; a situation beyond our control. The result of mother nature's effects. But if there is one thing we can control it is our actions to support our friends and family and fellow Americans in Florida. Offering my services to lend a hand seems like the very least that I can do.' - Mark Chesnutt Fellow Beaumont, Texas native Zona Jones will also perform in the show. Additional artists are expected to be added to the line-up.
