NEA Supports Arts Center Of Cannon County (ACCC) And MTSU Students To Create Webisodes About Southern Traditional Music

Woodburry, TN (Top40 Charts/ Lotos Nile Media) Award-winning facility The Arts Center of Cannon County (ACCC) is excited to announce the release of the exclusive educational webisode series Music Springs - Southern Music Sources, highlighting the musical history and legacy of southern traditional music. The Arts Center's GRAMMY Award-winning independent record label, Spring Fed Records, authored scripts, provided new and archived video footage and access to historical documents. The webisodes were produced by students at Middle Tennessee State University and are being released in stages from March until July 2013 through the Arts Center's Root Cellar community and other local media outlets.

ACCC and Spring Fed Records have a new opportunity to share exclusive content through the Root Cellar. This online community experience features a Spring Fed music library, event photo gallery, interactive forum, special contests, discounts for members, and will host the webisode series.

Spring Fed Records is dedicated to preserving classic old-time, bluegrass, and gospel historical recordings from as early as the 1930s while also distributing albums from current artists such as Bruce Nemerov and the Tennessee Mafia Jug Band. Spring Fed Record recordings are featured throughout the Music Springs - Southern Music Sources webisode series to highlight the roots of southern traditional music.

"The Music Springs webisodes are an effort to raise awareness of the roots of American Folk Music through visual and musical content" says Evan Hatch, producer for Spring Fed Records.

A grant from the National Endowment for the Arts provided funding for a Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU) class to produce the webisodes and allowed for the development of the Root Cellar community within the ACCC website. Partners for the Music Springs - Southern Music Sources project include: The Arts Center of Cannon County, Spring Fed Records, The Center for Popular Music (MTSU), Electronic Media Communications (MTSU), DTC Communications, the Tennesse Arts Commission, and the Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee.

Music Springs - Southern Music Sources will be released within the Root Cellar of the Arts Center website, on MTSU's Center for Popular Music website, and all relevant Facebook pages. Multiple versions of each webisode will be available exclusively in the Root Cellar, where viewers can cast their votes as to which versions will be published to Facebook and other media outlets. Voting will open one week prior to each published release, beginning on March 26th, 2013.
