New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Independent country/pop artist Alayna has released a new video for the title track of her debut EP, "Top of a Dream". The visually stunning video, directed by Eddie Irving, begins with Alayna in the dark at a bonfire and leads to her walking with a horse, torch in hand. She then makes her way up a grassy hill to finally stand at the top with a beautiful shot looking out at a landscape of hills and trees, symbolizing that she has reached the climax of her journey and has her dreams in the palm of her hands.
The song, written by Alayna and hit-songwriter Kirsti Manna (Blake Shelton's "
Austin", Big & Rich's "Loud") is the auto-biographical tale about overcoming verbal abuse. The song pulls the listener in from the opening progression, with a powerful piano driven melody that has been compared to the sounds of
Adele and Evanescense. The lyrics address the story of a girl who has been repeatedly told she is not good enough from the first line "Hopeless, you called me hopeless". As the song reaches the chorus, the girl describes that she has overcome the adversities that have been bestowed upon her, as the chorus finishes with the inspiring line "It's so different now, from the Top of a Dream", stating that she has reached her goals despite what she had heard throughout her childhood.
Alayna has partnered with the Kempe Foundation (www.kempe.org) & Break the
Cycle (www.breakthecycle.org), foundations that promote education and raise awareness for domestic/dating abuse and violence. A portion of the proceeds from the download of the "Top of a Dream" single will be donated to these charities. The song is available through iTunes, CD Baby, Amazon.mp3 and other online music retailers.
