(Top40 Charts/ Boston Early Music Festival) The Boston Early Music Festival presents the fifth production in its annual Chamber Opera Series, Monteverdi'sOrfeo, on Saturday, November 24, 2012 at 8pm and Sunday, November 25, 2012 at 3pm at New England Conservatory's Jordan Hall (30 Gainsborough Street in Boston, MA). Widely regarded as the first great opera, Monteverdi's Orfeo defined an art form in its infancy with breathtaking beauty and variety as it tells one of opera's most adored stories in which the heroic Orfeo descends to the underworld in hopes of reversing the tragic death of his beloved Euridice.

The magical musical entertainment of this Baroque opera is brought to life in a semi-staged production featuring superlative singing from a cast headlined by tenor Aaron Sheehan, lavish costumes, Baroque dance, and outstanding performances from the internationally acclaimed Boston Early Music Festival Chamber Ensemble. Orfeo will be led by three-time Grammy-nominated BEMF Artistic Co-Directors Paul O'Dette and Stephen Stubbs; along with Stage Director Gilbert Blin; Costume Designer Anna Watkins; Choreographer Melinda Sullivan; and Lighting DesignerLenore Doxsee.
