Maroon 5 hails from Los Angeles and three of the members, Adam Levine, Jesse Carmichael and Mickey Madden were part of a garage band named Kara's Flowers who released an album in the late 90's. Later on they got together with James Valentine, a guitarist, and foirmed Maroon 5.

Their freshman album was released in 2002 named "Songs About Jane." This album did quite well on the big charts and it ended up going gold, platinum and triple platinum throughout the world.

Maroon 5 had an extensive tour in support of "Songs About Jane" during the years 2003-2005. They won a Grammy Award in 20205 for "Best New Artist." They have released other great albums and have done other successful tours since their first album.

Their biggest hit thus far is "Moves like Jagger" which features the talented Christina Aguilera. This sold in excess of 8 million copies around the world as of June, 2012 which makes it one of the best selling singles of all time. Their 4th studio album "Overexposed" was released in late June of this year. "Payphone" which features Wiz Khalifa premiered at the No. 3 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 it later rose to the No. 2 spot on the same chart.
