WCPE Celebrates Bastille Day July 14
Wake Forest, NC (Top40 Charts/ WCPE) WCPE Assistant Music Director Kenneth Bradshaw announces a program celebrating Bastille Day on Saturday, July 14, 2012. A few short years after the United States gained its independence, the French threw off the tyranny of their absolute monarchy with the storming of the Bastille.

"The French Revolution began with the Declaration of the Rights of Man and of the Citizen," offers Bradshaw. "There were shouts of "Liberty, Equality, and Fraternity"!

Highlights of the celebration:
9:00 a.m. Couperin: "The French" from The Nations
11:00 a.m. Ravel: Noble and Sentimental Waltzes
1:00 p.m. Bizet: Carmen Suite no. 2
3:00 p.m. Finzi: Music for Love's Labors Lost
4:00 p.m. Berlioz: Symphonie Fantastique
5:00 p.m. Debussy: Iberia from Images for Orchestra

Be the programmer that evening with your favorite French composers, performers and conductors by making a request for the Saturday Evening Request Program here.

"Enjoy the music of French composers throughout Bastille Day," adds Bradshaw.
