NEW YORK (UGA announcement) - Urban Gospel Alliance is today mourning the passing of urban gospel artist and entrepreneur, Adele "Dee" Fortier. Fortier passed away July 4, 2004 from an extended illness.

Fortier was founder of Duru Entertainment, a multi service Christian entertainment and record company she started with her brother, Jonathan D. Fortier, in 1999. She also co-founded the Urban Gospel Connection, a nationally distributed magazine devoted to promoting urban spirituality. Urban Gospel Connection also has produced the souvenir magazine for UGA's conferences two years in a row.

In addition, Fortier produced and hosted the "Gospel Music Invasion", a weekly gospel/positive music show heard on internet radio station En Sound and on KPRO 1570 AM in Riverside. For her efforts to increase the reach of Urban Gospel via the airwaves, Fortier was nominated for this year's Urban Gospel Industry Radio Personality/Program of the Year Award.
"Adele wasn't just a business associate," stated Curtis Jermany, National Director of Urban Gospel Alliance. "She was a true light and an example for all. Even after she became ill, she still worked hard to serve others. We will miss her."
Two weeks ago Adele lost her father to the same illness. As this has become an extreme hardship on the Fortier family. Cards and donations would be extremely appreciated.
