BURBANK, CA (Reprise Records) - 'My Chemical Romance', one of today's most exciting and incendiary young bands, has scored a major music coup with their debut Reprise Records release, "Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge."
Featuring all-original material penned by the New Jersey-based quintet and produced by Howard Benson of Hoobastank, POD and Motorhead renown, "Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge" has debuted at number 1 on Billboard Magazine's influential Heatseeker's chart, which tracks sales of new groups.
The news follows hard on the heels of a flurry of media attention for My Chemical Romance, including a review in The New York Times, as well as upcoming stories in Alternative Press, Spin and a key "Next Big Thing" spot in Blender.
Comprised of Gerard Way (vocals), Ray Toro (guitar), Mikey Way (bass), Frank Iero (guitar) and Matt Pelissier (drums), My Chemical Romance hails from the grimy New Jersey suburbs where the group formed a loose-knit friendship in high school and eventually joined forces to create what founding member Way calls "violent, unsafe pop music."
Standout tracks on "Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge" include "I'm Not Okay (I Promise)," "The Ghost Of You," "You Know What They Do To Guys Like Us In Prison" and "I Never Told You What I Do For A Living."
