The Song Elvis Never Heard
New York, NY (Top40 Charts / J.R. Hamlett Official Website) A 68 year old North Carolina man and big fan of "The King" originally wrote & recorded the song with the intention of getting it to Elvis for consideration. Lost for nearly 40 years, the original recording was found tucked away in the back of a closet. The 39 year old song "Your Memories Haunting" was written in 1972 during the early separation days of Elvis from Priscilla. The song lyrics embodied the writer's interpretation of how Elvis felt. During the attempts at getting the song to Elvis the song's journey was cut short by the untimely death of Elvis.

Pictured together, are the young 29 year old artist J.R. Hamlett, and his producer Arthur Smith (Dueling Banjos). The song was recorded in Smiths studio in Charlotte N.C. Smith owns more than 500 original copyrights, of which many of them were recorded by big name recording artists such as Johnny Cash, James Brown, Ronnie Milsap and more. Hamlett had the opportunity to take the song public with a tour under the management of Smith. The road to potential fame and fortune wasn't the only thing on Hamlett's mind as he considered the toll this profession would have. Hamlett chose fatherhood and family and has never looked back. When asked if he ever regretted not moving forward with his career as an artist, Hamlett responded, "There's no doubt I made the right decision. When I see my beautiful bride of 48 years, my 5 children and 14 grandchildren I have no regrets."

Today, Hamlett closes a chapter in his life and fulfills an unfulfilled dream by launching this song to the public. The original recording was a single 45 rpm produced on vinyl. The song, written in 1972, contains Elvis style lyrics and instrumentals with a twist of cutting edge country of that era. Award winning Arthur Smith added the deep sharp electric guitar sound that won him many awards in the industry.

Still the question remains, is this truly the way Elvis felt about Priscilla? Would he have sang the song? Listen, Imagine and decide for yourself.
