New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ Interscope Records) Lauren Alaina's brand new debut album, Wildflower, feels like an instant classic. Chock full of soulful Southern anthems, it brings to mind the golden days of summer. We all saw it on American Idol: this girl's got soul. But the songs on this album really let her voice shine through. These songs are all so sincere and believable coming from her. Yes, she could have gone completely pop and would have pulled it off with flying colors - but we are glad she decided to stay true to her roots and keep it country.
Among the album's highlights are 'Georgia Peaches' and 'Growing Her Wings.' 'Growing Her Wings' has got a really classic country sound to it. It's written from the perspective of (of course) a young girl growing up in a small southern town, and we really like the line about "doing time behind her bedroom door:"
