Nashville, TN (Top40 Charts/ Webster & Associates) The Blind Boys of Alabama have brought the spirit of Take the High Road out of the studio and onstage with them in every city they've traveled to since the album's release. A number of guest vocalists from Take the High Road have asked the Boys to join them in concert and the Grammy-winning group has repaid the favor, and the 10-day run will be capped off with this Thursday's live performance by joining Hank Williams Jr on CMT's Music Builds: The Disaster Relief Concert, airing at 9 ET / 8 CT / 6 PT. It began in Nashville when the Blind Boys arrived for a CD release show at the historic Belcourt Theater on May 3. They were joined onstage by the album's co-producer Jamey Johnson, The Oak Ridge Boys, and a host of top-line Music City musicians who played on the recording session. Then in New Orleans, the band played at the legendary club Tipitina's and Johnson stepped in to sing and play on several songs at a roof-raising concert. The next day, it was the Boys turn to assist Johnson, closing his JazzFest performance with "I Saw the Light," then joining Willie Nelson during his set for a redux of the song. The Oak Ridge Boys even followed the band to New York City for their City Winery show and turned up (along with Johnson) at a number of television and radio appearances. Tonight, May 12th, the Blind Boys will perform the version of "I Saw the Light" (which appears on their new CD) live with Hank Williams Jr for the first time as part of Music Builds: The Disaster Relief Concert airing on CMT. Held at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, the special will rebroadcast on HLN this Sunday at 9pm ET. Co-produced by country superstar Jamey Johnson, Take The High Road brings the 5-time Grammy award-winning Blind Boys together with country legends including Johnson, Vince Gill, Willie Nelson, Hank Williams Jr., Lee Ann Womack, and The Oak Ridge Boys to record their first country gospel album. Called "musically and spiritually inspiring" by Country Weekly magazine and "heavenly" by the Associated Press, Take The High Road was released on May 3rd (Saguaro Road Records).
