New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ Shore Fire Media) "Jewell's aching vocals are pure, country-gospel, box-car soul...immediately transports you to the haunting, twisted, timeless world of a Jim Jarmusch or David Lynch." -My Old Kentucky Blog On June 28, Signature Sounds will release the enchanting Eilen Jewell's new album 'Queen of the Minor Queen,' a gritty, noir-ish collection of songs that highlights Jewell's deep well of talent as a singer and songwriter. Jewell retreated to the mountains of Idaho to write the songs on 'Queen,' but it was a previously written diamond in the rough that became one of the album's cornerstones. "Only One" is a seductive, jazz-inflected love song that Jewell nearly abandoned after it was written. Luckily, the song was rediscovered. It is a perfect example of why the Boston-based artist with a honey-dipped voice has garnered comparisons to Billie Holiday. "I think of it as the little song that could. I wrote it a while ago and instantly threw it away. When it came time to record the new album, I discovered it accidentally in a notebook and decided to give it a try with the band, thinking there was no chance it would sound like anything. When I heard what they added to it I almost cried. They all just got it instantly and gave it wings," explains Jewell.
