The Heat Goes On... ASIA's 2011 North, Central & South American Tour Dates Announced!
LONDON and NEW YORK (Top40 Charts/ ASIA Official Website) Acclaimed British rock supergroup ASIA continues its 2011 Omega tour, kicking off with dates at The State Theatre in Easton, PA on Thursday, April 28th. The band will once again tour North, Central & South American stages, with a two-hour show featuring the best of its classic and new material. The tour includes performances in Connecticut, Illinois, Maryland, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Ontario, Quebec, Santiago (Chile); Buenos Aires, Sao Paulo, Panama, Caracas, Monterey and Mexico City (Mexico).

Frontiers Records, the band's label, also released a special edition live CD/DVD box set titled SPIRIT OF THE NIGHT ' THE PHOENIX TOUR LIVE IN CAMBRIDGE 2009 on March 8th.

Geoff Downes, Steve Howe, John Wetton and Carl Palmer rejoined as the original ASIA in 2006. It was the first time the four original members had worked together in 23 years. They regrouped with no more expectations than to play a single, reunion tour. Nearly six years later, ASIA has completed several world tours; released two brilliant studio albums: (2008's Phoenix, and 2010's Omega),  as well as two live albums and DVDs, recorded in Japan and Britain.

Says drummer Carl Palmer, "ASIA is the last of the original bands that plays this style of music. The group is unique because of who is in it. The new musicians who've played with us, and the original members (many of whom are music legends), have inspired generations of musicians. It's a legacy that few, if any, other groups can claim."

ASIA's debut album exploded onto the music scene in March 1982 with several Top 10 singles. Sales exceeded four million copies in America alone. This "supergroup," featuring Wetton, drummer Carl Palmer, keyboardist Geoff Downes, and guitarist Steve Howe, was the logical successor to their collective bands of the 70s - Yes, ELP, King Crimson, UK, and The Buggles. ASIA became one of the most played acts during the first year of MTV. Throughout most of '82, ASIA ruled the radio airwaves and MTV. They sold out every date on tour, and the debut album crushed the competition at record stores worldwide.

While the band is happy to embrace its legacy and give the fans all those great classic ASIA songs they have come to love, they remain firmly standing in the here and now. Adds Geoff Downes: "The band today is better than it's ever been. The response from fans and critics has been very, very good, and that is always encouraging."

"Despite the connotation of the title, 'Omega' doesn't mean the end," says Wetton. "In many ways, it signifies a beginning. Only time will tell."
