Lee Rocker Of The Stray Cats Does Broadway
New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ Stray Cats Fans Website) Lee Rocker, best known as the member of the 80s rockabilly band The Stray Cats is now doing theater. Fans of Rocker can expect to see him perform on the Broadway musical Million Dollar Quartet. Rocker has been recently interviewed by The Celebrity Cafe and he expressed his excitement about his current acting project. "It's a great story that tells the birth of rock 'n' roll and the sessions at Sun Record Studios with Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins and Johnny Cash."

According to Rocker the storyline is about Carl Perkins and added: "I am thrilled to get to be a part of it. I was close friends with Carl and learned a lot from him working with him in the last 10-12 years of his life."

Ironically Rocker would play Jay Perkins, Carl's brother and a bass player, a part that he describes as a "perfect role for me". Rocker also talked about how he got his musical start in Rockabilly and spoke a little bit about life on the road with The Stray Cats. "The last tour with Stray Cats wasn't long ago. It was in Australia and New Zealand a couple years back. Touring with those guys there are certain things that are really fun, certain things that are not so fun. It's kinda like time travel because we started the band around 30 years ago when were kids. Sometimes it's kinda like travelling with two ex wives; every couple years something comes up."

Rocker also spoke about his musical influence Willie Dixon, a man he identified as "the great blues upright bass player." "If they ever do a Willie Dixon play I'd like to be in that, too," he said.

Not only is Rocker preparing for his Broadway appearance on January 21-31; he is also working on the release of his new EP called "Cover Sessions", a compilation that Rocker says is neither Rockabilly nor Country "it's just a fun different thing."
