NEW YORK (Ramones Fans Website) - The late Joey Ramone will be officially recognized by the city of New York, where a street will be named in his honour at a ceremony later this month. The street - which will be dubbed Joey Ramone Place - is close to CBGB's, the Bowery night-club that served as the launching pad for the New York punk and New Wave scene of the mid-seventies. Blondie, The Talking Heads, Television, and The Ramones all got their starts at the tiny club, which celebrates its 30th anniversary next month. Joey Ramone died of cancer in April, 2001.
