 Ventura, CA (TOP40 Charts/ Consortium Media Services) -- Already considered among the most important artists of her generation in South Korea, 24-year-old pianist Yeol Eum Son�s highly versatile and accomplished performances earned her a silver medal at the 13th Van Cliburn International Piano Competition in 2009. On May 8, she will perform an intimate recital for the Ventura Music Festival on May 8. �Yeol Eum Son has, as one might expect, a rapid-fire technique with a lot of style,� said Nuvi Mehta, artistic director for the Ventura Music Festival. �She performs a terrific program: Beethoven, Schubert, a Liszt / Schubert tour de force and the great Carnaval by Robert Schumann.� Son has performed in South Korea with almost every notable orchestra and has also performed with the Israel, Czech and Warsaw Philharmonic Orchestras, the NHK Symphony and Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestras in Japan and Germany�s Baden�Baden Symphony Orchestra. Fluent in Korean and English, Son holds a degree form the Korean National University of the Arts, where she studied with Dae Jin Kim. Currently, she is studying with Arie Vardi at the Hochschule fur Musik und Theatre in Hannover, Germany. A passionate basketball fan, she keeps up with her hometown team in Wonju in the Kangwon Province.
