New York, NY (TOP40 Charts/ Amp3 Public Relations) -- On April 23rd, 2010, New York-based singer/songwriter Dion Roy (www.DionRoy.com) will hit the Manhattan waterways to perform an acoustic set with
Ryan Cabrera as part of the "Rocks Off" concert cruise series (www.RocksOff.com).
Just back from his SXSW showcase and a headlining performance with Eve 6, Dion Roy is quickly embracing his new role as "front man," after many years of performing as bass player and behind the scenes songwriter in other bands. Born in Namibia, raised in South Africa and later New Jersey, Dion's sound is most often compared to artists such as Ryan Adams, Pete Yorn, and groups like Snow Patrol.
Dion initially made his solo mark with the release of his debut 10-track self-written and recorded album, "Gallery," in June 2009. He has since been featured on several TV spots including ABC's Good Morning Baltimore, Fox News Connecticut, Good Morning Connecticut, and Plum TV in Nantucket, and performed at top music venues ranging from The Viper Room in Los Angeles to The Highline Ballroom in NYC, (where he initially opened for Ryan Cabrera).
Dion is currently in the studio finishing up his follow-up' EP, "The Nearest Light," due out in June, 2010, which is set to include his latest single, "The Wave", mixed by the legendary Scott Riebling.
The concert cruise departs from the Skyport Marina located at East 23rd St. & FDR Dr. on Manhattan's East River. Doors will open at 7pm with the boat departing from the marina promptly at 8pm and returning around 11pm. Food and a cash bar will be available on the boat, and tickets are still available via www.dionroy.com/onaboat.
