New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ Basic NYC) - Japan Satoshi Tomiie has called New York home for the better part two decades. But it rare to find him in his hometown doing what he does every weekend at clubs around the world: rocking the dancefloor with his signature blend of deep and dark tech-house. This Saturday, April 17th, that will change as Satoshi returns to the Sullivan Room to launch a new SAW Recordings residency in the Big Apple. His previous Sullivan Room gigs have been incredible nights of cutting edge music, and we can wait to hear what Satoshi has in store for the kickoff.
When it comes to manning the decks, Satoshi Tomiie is one of the true masters. Eschewing the big hits and typical dance music cliche's, Satoshi is all about building a vibe and subversively taking a crowd to the outer limits. Covering a huge range of genres and sounds, Satoshi sets are impeccably programmed, with everything tied together by his seamless mixing. Using loops and effects to draw out the mixes, Satoshi selections really come to life in his mixes with techno, deep house, tech-house all getting exposure.
It been a typically busy year for Satoshi, with lots more on the horizon. In January, he dropped ack to Basics an original release under his Mes production alias on SAW. With a sick Motorcitysoul remix, the release won support among top-shelf DJs worldwide; another set of remixes is due soon. He got a brand-new mix CD coming up for Greece legendary Cavo Paradiso club. And in March, SAW Recordings celebrated its 10th anniversary at the Winter Music Conference. With a new studio being constructed in New York, expect loads of new music coming soon from Satoshi .
Satoshi made his Sullivan Room debut at a memorable Basic NYC holiday party in December, 2008. Since then he appeared twice, including a co-headlining set with SAW Hector Romero in October. All of the prior events have been seminars in dancefloor hysteria.
Opening for Satoshi will be Global FrequenciesThomas Pategas, who will be celebrating his birthday on the night.. Setting things off will be Michael Vieira, who made his Sullivan Room debut a few weeks back. Basic NYC residents Sleepy & Boo will be on hand as well, as their Spring lineup of Sullivan Room events continues with this dynamic night of music.
