New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ Shore Fire Media) -
Myron Walden's long had his jazz bona fides in order but his new project is different. If you're a fan of Booker T and The MGs, Soulive, Jimmy Smith, or the Dap-Kings, you've got to take a listen to
Myron Walden Countryfied. The outfit brings elements of blues, gospel, soul, funk, rock and roll, and jazz into a downhome organ and sax-driven mix.

I caught the group in an early gig at tastemaker venue Pianos, and it left a major impression. Myron's funky soul charts allowed him to preach through his tenor sax like a man possessed and when he came out into the crowd still blowing, I felt the excitement that a soul man brings to his music. The band makes its next appearances at Brooklyn's Coco 66 April 12 and 26 and I urge you to be there if you'll be in NYC.
I'm not the only one to take notice. Jazz Times said that the Countryfied audience was moved "to bum-rush the stage and groove to his lithe, Southern soul-drenched melodies."
NY Press raved about his ability "rock the shit out of the place," continuing, "Walden's screeching tenor sax brilliantly complimented an understated organ and an impossibly agile rhythm section, producing a sound that demanded attention."
Myron Walden Countryfied will release its debut album June 1 on Demi Sound Records. Fans of a certain Brooklyn soul label should take notice of the gospel-drenched goodness in here.
