Al Di Meola Leaves The East Coast With Fiery (and Fire-y) Show

New York (Top40 Charts/ Shore Fire Media) - Al Di Meola's live shows are "legendary - energetic, emotional roller coasters brimming with fiery passion, delicate arrangements and his inspiring technique" (AZ Daily Star) and, his recent show at the Cultural Center in Largo, Florida was no exception. As he does most nights, Di Meola took the stage in front of an enthusiastic sold-out house. For almost an hour, the band performed songs from their latest album 'World Sinfonia: Live From Seattle And Elsewhere,' when suddenly a dozen firemen - in full regalia- marched down the aisles with axes in hand and took their places at the foot of the stage.

Stunned, yet not thrown off their game, the seasoned musicians continued playing and as soon as the song was finished they heard the fireman instruct the audience to immediately evacuate the building.

Once outside, concert-goers were overhead clamoring that "Al was really on fire tonight," and jesting that the guitarist's legendary speed and precision on the strings had sparked the flame. After the firefighters' investigation proved there was no danger, the concert was cleared to resume.

Di Meola was grateful that it was a false alarm with no injuries and took the stage where he left off. An irony that wasn't overlooked by the crowd as his began the next song on the set "Fireflies" - a song currently featured on the live release and set for Di Meola's upcoming studio album in late 2010.
