BOSTON, MA. (Top40 Charts/ Boston Youth Symphony Orchestras) - Boston Youth Symphony Orchestras (BYSO), one of the finest youth orchestras in the country, today announced programming for the 52nd season. In addition to the advanced orchestral repertoire scheduled, BYSO will present the Mozart opera Don Giovanni. The six BYSO ensembles featuring 437 talented students will present 14 performances in such prestigious venues as Symphony Hall, Sanders Theatre, Tsai Performance Center, and Faneuil Hall.

"This is going to be, not surprisingly, another musically very intense and rich season," said BYSO Music Director Federico Cortese. "The students will be performing significant repertoire I am quite sure will give them a great sense of pride in their musical achievements. I am confident we will continue to inspire our valued listeners with extraordinary performances," he concluded.

The premier orchestra, Boston Youth Symphony (BYS), will open the season on October 18, 2009, at Symphony Hall, with a performance of Beethoven's Symphony No. 5 and Bartok's Concerto for Orchestra. Led by BYSO Music Director Federico Cortese, this 118-member full symphonic orchestra includes talented young musicians from all six New England states.

On January 24, 2010, BYS will present Mozart's opera Don Giovanni at Sanders Theatre. The BYS is acclaimed as the only US youth orchestra to perform a complete semi-staged opera for three consecutive seasons.

On March 14, 2010, BYS will perform Verdi's Overture to I Vespri Siciliani and Tchaikovsky's Symphony No. 5 at Symphony Hall. The season will conclude June 13, 2010, with Stravinsky's Suite No. 1 for Small Orchestra and Brahms' Symphony No. 2 presented at Sanders Theatre.
Tickets are available at www.BYSOWeb.org or by calling (617) 353-5353.
