New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ Shore Fire Media) - Disc One of the 4 CD set DOLLY documents the beginning of the iconic singer/songwriter's long career - from her first recording "Puppy Love," to her songs with the Merry Melody Singers, to the beginning of her relationship with Porter Wagoner. 1. The never before released Goffin-King song "I've Known You All My Life" from 1965 finds Dolly sounding as if she could have been a member of the Shangri-La's. 2. After the success of early pop hits on Monument Records, Dolly put her foot down and insisted she stick with country music recording the Curly Putnam tune "Dumb Blonde" in 1966. The song, a reaction to the argument, landed Dolly on the Country Western chart. 3. As if a prelude to the hit "Jolene", the 1968 self-penned "Daddy" tells the story of an eldest daughter defending her weathered mother against her father's new love who's "even younger than me." In the heartbreaking last line, she pleads, "Daddy, please say that you won't let her down."
