The Texas Sheiks' record is Traditional American Music of extremely high caliber. I think of it as modernist classical music. Folk music, folk blues, country blues, country music, blues music, jug band music, rag time music, string band music, swing music, old time music. These musicians have risked their years. Geoff Muldaur and his virtuosic band of friends, my great and lifelong friend Stephen Bruton among them, have filled this music with history. A beautiful record by any measure.
