Nashville, TN (Top40 Charts/ TRUE NORTH RECORDS) - True North Records announces a November 3rd U.S. release date for No Fool for Trying, the label debut CD from Canadian folk duo Madison Violet. True North Records is distributed in the U.S. by E1 Entertainment.
Comprised of Brenley MacEachern and Lisa MacIsaac, who both hail from small Scottish towns in Canada, Madison Violet has released two critically-acclaimed prior albums and generated a considerable buzz around the world with constant touring, where they've opened for the Indigo Girls and Ron Sexsmith, among others. Madison Violet's two earlier albums were recorded in London and produced by John Reynolds (U2, Sinead O'Connor), with both being nominated for multiple East Coast Music Awards in Canada.
No Fool for Trying marks the duo's first recording done in Canada, and this time they turned to veteran producer Les Cooper, who recorded them in Toronto backed by a stellar cast of some of that countries finest roots musicians. The result is an album that builds on Madison Violet's exquisite harmonies framed around traditional folk music and adds a decidedly Appalachian Mountain touch through the use of fiddle, mandolin and banjo. At the heart are Brenley and Lisa's beautifully crafted songs that are catchy, heart-melting and heart-breaking.
No Fool for Trying has already been released in Canada and Europe to rave reviews and extensive radio airplay. In the UK, Maverick magazine called it 'An album of satisfying melodies leaving you moved by the music,' in its four-star review. 'This is a truly beautifully crafted album,' said Daily Music Guide. And legendary British radio DJ Bob Harris called it 'a wonderful album - completely irresistible,' on his BBC Radio 2 show.
Brenley and Lisa are relentlessly touring for audiences all over the world in support of the new CD. In addition to the U.S. and Canada, previous tours have brought the duo to Australia, Switzerland, Denmark, Germany, Sweden, Spain, Belgium, Norway, Italy, Scotland, Ireland, the UK and France, where they performed at the prestigious Montreux Jazz Festival. Current tour plans for the summer and fall include dates in Canada, the UK, Ireland, Germany, Denmark and the U.S.
