Nashville, TN. (Top40 Charts/ Randy Kohrs Official website) - This Valentine's Day will have an even more special meaning to Nashville artist Randy Kohrs as he rejoins the annual Variety Children's Charity telethon in Des Moines, Iowa. Held February 14th - 15th and broadcast throughout the mid-west, this will be the 35th annual telethon and Kohrs, an Iowa native, has been present for around 15 of those years. Currently busy in the studio working on a new country record, the Grammy-winning producer and world-renowned resonator guitarist explains how the telethon's mission took on a much more personal meaning for him. 'My nephew was born prematurely when I was around 17 years old and his lungs were too undeveloped to stay inflated when he exhaled. The hospital used a very experimental procedure to keep the lining in his lungs from sticking together - they injected amniotic fluid from a cow into them! Only in Iowa would they think to use a cow!' Kohrs laughs. 'But, seriously, it's because Variety helps keep the children's hospitals up-to-date that helped save his life. Right after that, I asked them what I could do.' Other Nashville musicians joining the Grammy-winning producer and prominent resonator guitarist to comprise the band for the event will be Stephen Mougin (Sam Bush Band), Jay Weaver (Raul Malo), Chris Wood (Randy Kohrs Band), among others. Several other celebrities will be flying in from around the world to be a part of this worthy cause. To date, it has raised over $70 million that has been granted to agencies serving children across the State of Iowa.
