Nashville, TN. (Top40 Charts/ Warner Bros. Records) - Single to be included on Rich's upcoming solo Warner CD, Son of a Preacher Man

Rarely is a song written and released to radio within two weeks, but that's just what John Rich has done with his new single, "Shuttin' Detroit Down." Rich debuted the song last week at Detroit's WYCD-FM and listener response was immediate and overwhelming.

"I've been watching the news like everybody else," Rich told Detroit radio station WYCD. "I'm sitting there, getting madder and madder, watching New York and Washington D.C. sling billions of dollars back and forth to each other while the hard-working people in America are just going, 'What in the world is going on up there?'"

Rich was just finishing his upcoming solo album, Son of a Preacher Man, when he wrote "Shuttin' Detroit Down." But thanks to response to the new song, Warner is halting production so the tune can be included. It's a case where fans have made a real difference, as calls and emails have flooded radio stations requesting the song.

"This is what country music's all about to me," Rich told New Jersey's K98.5 radio. "Try to say something that matters to you as an artist and a fan of country music - and if it matters to me, there's a good chance it's gonna matter to a lot of other people."
John Rich's debut solo album for Warner Bros., Son of a Preacher Man, is due out in May.
