Santa Paula, CA. (Top40 Charts/ DJM Records/ Burnside Distribution) -
Daniel Moore's musical journey has taken him to many amazing places. He has played with and written songs for the best of the best, but it is only now, in recent years, that the boy born in Walla Walla, raised in Eastern Oregon, is striking out on his lonesome.
Following on from the success of his suite of Americana originals, Limited Parking, released last year, Moore now shows the world his bluesy side with the release of The Wolf and The Chicken.
As on his previous records, released intermittently over the course of a five decade career, the tracks on this album are all written, produced, engineered and performed by Moore.
It is a break from the collaborations that have marked his time in the world of music, but the tunes themselves retain the down-home honesty and realism that the great bluesmen have always had.
From the sweet soul of Rosalee to the hard-rocking Bend With The Breeze, every song on this album is a future classic.
Having spent his years using his talent for others and staying behind the scenes himself, this record, coupled with Limited Parking has put the name of Daniel Moore firmly on the map.
His credentials are impeccable in any case, having penned such classics as Three Dog Night's Shambala and Brooks & Dunn's My Maria, and working on Joe Cocker's infamous Mad Dogs & Englishmen tour.
But these songs are as good as anything produced by these luminaries. They are raw and visceral. They will make even the hardest-hearted naysayer stomp his or her foot in appreciation.
If Limited Parking announced Daniel Moore, The Wolf and The Chicken has cemented his place in the 'one to watch' category.
