NASHVILLE, TN. (Top40 Charts/ Curb Records) - With "Stand Beside Me" from her well-past gold "I'm Alright" climbing the charts, Jo Dee Messina's switching floats before the annual Macy's Day Parade even begins! Originally slated to be on Mr. Peanut's Circus, the copper-tressed songstress will now be on Macy's very own Westward Ho! float - the very same float that her good friend and co-producer Tim McGraw rode just last year. Not only will the double-CMA Awards nominee be appearing on a covered wagon being "pulled" by a giant 30-foot ox, but Jo Dee's slated to sing "I'm Alright" at approximately 10:45 EST as the float hits Washington Square Park. "I'm Alright" spent three weeks at No 1 this summer and is still sitting at No 29 on Billboard's Hot Country Singles chart - in addition ringing up single sales of over 500,000 copies. "I'm really happy - and it was very nice of them to move me. They said they wanted me on that float because it was during the first hour of the parade, which is also the most viewed hour," says Messina. "It's an official Macy's float, so that makes it such an honor. And, if it's windy, I can sit inside the wagon!" This Thanksgiving, Messina's got plenty to be grateful for: two multiple- week No 1s, sales of well over one million units, two CMA nominations and what is rapidly turning into a very busy 1999. Plus, you can look for Jo Dee to kickoff CBS' "The 40th Anniversary of the CMA" special Nov. 28. Messina joins LeAnn Rimes and Bryan White for the opening of the star-studded spectacular.
