WEST CHESTER, PA. (Top40 Charts/ QVC, Inc.) - Country music icon and stage and screen superstar
Reba McEntire is lending her support in the fight against breast cancer.
The GRAMMY Award-winning singer and star performer is scheduled to appear in both print and television public service announcements supporting the 15th annual QVC Presents "FFANY Shoes on Sale" breast cancer fundraising event, live on QVC Wednesday, October 15, 2008 from 7 PM - 10 PM (ET).
Now in its 15th year, the fashion fete once again brings together one of the largest multimedia retailers in the world, QVC, and the Fashion Footwear Association of New York (FFANY), who together have donated over $28 million to the cause. The three-hour broadcast airs through QVC and will feature more than 100,000 pairs of shoes at half the manufacturer's suggested retail price, with net proceeds benefitting leading breast cancer research and education institutions.
"Knowing the effects breast cancer has on all who are touched by it, I am proud to step in to support such a worthy cause," said McEntire. "This event not only raises much-needed funds for education and research, but also helps to promote awareness of this deadly disease."
"Reba is a talented woman who has the ability to spread strength through song," said Jeff Charney, QVC senior vice president of marketing and chief marketing officer. "She understands the devastation the disease can cause and we are excited she has joined us in our fight."
"As we embark on our 15th year, it is more important than ever that we continue to find an appropriate spokesperson for our public service announcement," said Joe Moore, FFANY president and CEO. "With a phenomenal reach to women everywhere, we know Reba will help us extend our message in the most heartfelt and sincere way."
Beneficiaries for the 2008 QVC Presents "FFANY Shoes on Sale" event include: The Abramson Cancer Center of the University of Pennsylvania; The Alvin J. Siteman Cancer Center at Barnes-Jewish Hospital and Washington University School of Medicine; The Breast Cancer Research Foundation; The Gillette Center for Women's Cancers at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute; The John Wayne Cancer Institute Breast Center at Saint John's Health Center; The Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center at Johns Hopkins; The University of Michigan Comprehensive Cancer Center's Breast Oncology Program and The Winthrop P.
