Pete Seeger, The Original Green Troubadour, Still Fighting For Environment At 89

New York, NY. (Top40 Charts/ Shore Fire Media) - Pete Seeger, who has spent his entire career fighting for the environment, continues to spread the message of ecological responsibility through song and action.

On his latest album 'At 89,' out September 30 on Appleseed Recordings, Seeger talks about the Hudson River Sloop Clearwater, which Seeger co-founded in 1966 to help clean up the Hudson River and educate about the dangers of pollution.

The sloop is still in use today, educating children about the Hudson and what they can do to protect it. On the album Pete sings "The Long Haul," a song he often sings with children on the sloop, reminding them that "it's a job for the many, not just for the few."

Seeger also includes "If It Can't Be Reduced," a gently bouncing ode to Berkley, CA's Zero Waste Commission, celebrating their strict environmental legislation and efforts to reduce, reuse, rebuild, refurbish, refinish, resell, recycle and compost.

This weekend Seeger, accompanied by his grandson Tao Rodriguez-Seeger and the great bluesman Guy Davis, will perform at two Farm Aid benefits in New England, to raise money and awareness for the plight of local farmers in the Northeast. The shows will take place Friday at the Lebanon Opera House in Lebanon, N.H., and Saturday at Latchis Theatre in Brattleboro, Vt.
