New York, NY. (Top40 Charts/ Shore Fire Media) - Breakout Clarinetist/Saxophonist Anat Cohen is set to perform a six night residency at the legendary Village Vanguard in New York City, October 21-26 with her quartet Jason Lindner (piano), Joe Martin (Bass) and Daniel Freedman (Drums). When she debuted at the Vanguard in 2007, Anat was the first Israeli and the first female horn player to headline the storied venue. A year later, she still holds both distinctions.

Anat will perform compositions from her new album 'Notes From The Village,' out tomorrow on her own Anzic Records label. The new album incorporates multiple styles and, as referenced in the title, is inspired by Ms. Cohen's downtown NYC surroundings. The NY Times recently called the album "a resounding confirmation: yes, she is the real deal."

Anat made her Los Angeles debut earlier this summer, and the LA Times hailed her "irresistibly charismatic presence," adding that her performance was "an impressive display of the qualities that last year garnered her awards from DownBeat and the Jazz Journalists Assn. - and it also offered hope that a female horn player will finally eradicate the outmoded notion that the art form is strictly the provenance of male performers."

WHO: Anat Cohen Quartet
WHAT: Six night residency celebrating 'Notes From The Village'
WHERE: The Village Vanguard: 178 7th Avenue South
WHEN: October 21-26, two sets nightly at 9pm 11pm
