LOS ANGELES, CA. (Top40 Charts/ Nu Groove Records) - Saxophonist MICHAEL LINGTON performed " Baker Street" from his album HEAT on Jerry Lewis' annual Muscular Dystrophy Association telethon this past Labor Day, helping to raise a record $65 million for the MDA. After the performance, Lewis praised Lington's rendition of "Baker Street," which featured Grammy nominated vocalist and American Idol alumni Ace Young, saying: "Hey Michael! Beautiful, Michael! Beautiful music, great talent ... we're lucky we got them tonight." Lington released his new record HEAT September 2nd, the day after the telethon. HEAT features the already popular radio single "You and I" - Radio & Record's most added single for the last two weeks; "Baker Street," his collaboration with Young; and "That's Why You Save Me," a tune penned by scorching-hot writer Claude Kelly, featuring vocals by the legendary Aaron Neville. Lington co-produced seven of the tracks on HEAT with legendary session keyboardist Greg Phillinganes, whose credits range from Herbie Hancock's POSSIBILITIES to Chris Botti's TO LOVE AGAIN. Mega producer Keith Olsen (Fleetwood Mac, Santana, Grateful Dead) also contributed three cuts. Veteran musicians on the CD include keyboardist Randy Waldman, guitarists Michael Thompson and Tim Pierce; bassists Neil Stubenhaus and Nathan East; and drummers Teddy Campbell and Vinnie Colaiuta. Lington also introduces rising female vocalist, U.K. born Keely Hawkes on the catchy tune "Shout About Ya."
