NASHVILLE, TN. (Top40 Charts/ Roadblock Records) -
David McMillin, who was recently named Chicago's 2008 Best Folk, Country, or Americana Act by the
Chicago Reader, brings his trio show to the Lakeshore Theater on Saturday, October 4th.
McMillin released his new full-length LP, Heartsteady, on Tuesday, August 19th. The twenty-four year-old singer-songwriter plans to tour all fall to promote the release. North American dates are currently being announced. McMillin has been on the road for much of the last two years, breaking only to work in the studio on his latest effort.
Opening the October 4th show will be Sub Pop Records artist Daniel Martin Moore. On Tuesday, October 7th, Moore will release his Sub Pop debut album titled Stray Age. Moore's last stop in the city was opening for The Swell Season (Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova of Once fame) at the Chicago Theater.
McMillin has spent most of 2008 headlining his own shows and also touring as an opener for Shelby Lynne, Marc Cohn, Josh Ritter, Ryan Bingham, Grant-Lee Phillips, Martin Sexton, Matt Nathanson, Shawn Mullins, Sister Hazel, Emerson Hart, and others. McMillin, an Indiana native, has toured throughout the country and earned a steady following. McMillin's songs reflect his childhood of love and loss, of good times and heartbreak. Some call his music folk or blues, others say it's alt. country. He's got his own name for it: "old-fashioned whiskey and cigarettes rock and roll."
When asked about his new album, Heartsteady, McMillin said: "it's a hopeful record." This record "proves that there is beauty everywhere, that there are people that make the world better, and that growing up can be easier than we think," he said. David is available for live radio and TV appearances, phoners, and interviews at the venue before soundcheck.
