LOS ANGELES (Top40 Charts/ Ecast) - College radio and Indie underground favorite Stereolab is bringing their unique sound to the out-of-home space by pre-releasing their eleventh album, "Chemical Chords," on the Ecast interactive media network, followed by a full U.S. tour.
Beginning today - one week before its official release date on August 19 - "Chemical Chords" is available for play on more than 10,000 digital jukeboxes across the nation. Leveraging Ecast promotional features to raise awareness and invite more song plays, "Chemical Chords" will be featured as part of the "Indie Expansion" playlist and the Ecast New Music video loop.
Stereolab has been a staple on college radio since the early 1990s, and found critical and underground success in 1996 with their fourth album "Emperor Tomato Ketchup." Founders Time Gane and Latitia Sadier have made Stereolab's sound - a blend of exotic drone rock, lounge instrumentals, and haunting vocals - a cult favorite for hipsters across the country.
"Ecast plays an important part in any promotional program to build word of mouth and reach a different audience," said Lisa Tiver, SVP business affairs, Ecast. "We reach savvy tastemakers and mainstream crowds in the ideal environment for creating great associations around music. A bar goer plays his or her favorite new song on the Ecast network, the whole bar samples it, and new fans are made. It's viral marketing using the jukebox."
According to a 2007 Arbitron study, Ecast consumers are seen as authorities on music. In fact, the touchscreen broadband network not only reaches the coveted 21-34 age demographic, but Ecast consumers feel passionately about music and 70 percent felt it was a good way to introduce friends and family to music that they like.
