Nashville, TN. (Top40 Charts/ Ah-Ha Entertainment Group) - Ah-Ha Entertainment Group announced today the release of their second album on the newly formed label, Ah-Ha Music. The album,
Leona Williams Sings Merle Haggard, is currently available at Ernest Tubb Record Shops and selected outlets online. The talented and beautiful Williams is certainly qualified to sing Merle Haggard tunes; after all, she helped write a few of them; including one of his best known hits, "You Take Me For Granted." In the late 70's Williams first teamed up with Haggard to record "The Bull and the Beaver"; the song became a top ten hit in record time so the duo followed it up with an album titled
Heart to Heart. The popular vocal duo decided to expand their relationship and married a few years later and although they divorced in 1984, they remain friends.
A private album release/preview party will take place, appropriately, at the Musicians Hall of Fame in Nashville on Thursday, June 19 and Williams will perform for the public the following night at the Nashville Palace. Country fans will be treated to additional performances by Ah-Ha Music label mates Crystal Sands and Carl Ray.
Williams, is truly one of the grand ladies in country music. She has an amazing career that already spans several decades and shows no signs of slowing down any time soon. Over the course of her remarkable career, to date, she has won many accolades and awards for her singing and her songwriting. She has received the prestigious George D. Hay Award, been inducted into the Missouri Country Music Hall of Fame, the Country Music Association of Texas Hall of Fame, received the "Best female pure country artist" award from the Academy of Western Artists in Dallas, Texas and just last year she received the Songwriter of the Year award from the R.O.P.E. (Reunion of Professional Entertainers) organization.
Williams has also written several hit songs for other well-known artists; Willie Nelson, Loretta Lynn, George Jones, Merle Haggard, Randy Travis and Connie Smith among them.
Anyone wanting to catch Leona Williams performance live in Nashville, Tennessee can do so on June 20 at Nashville Palace and June 21 at Ernest Tubb Midnight Jamboree.
