NASHVILLE, TN. (Top40 Charts/ Collin Herring Official Website) - Having translated years of personal pain into a compellingly emotive album, life takes an upward swing for singer-songwriter Collin Herring. In recognition of his latest effort, PAST LIFE CRASHING - written during two stints in rehab, a tumultuous marriage and subsequent divorce - Herring has been nominated for "BEST ALT-COUNTRY" artist and "BEST SONGWRITER" by the Fort Worth Weekly!
Collin Herring has been heralded as "the torchbearer for alt-country," while one overwhelmed writer declared that Herring's style was "unclassifiable." His latest release, PAST LIFE CRASHING is the product of two and a half years of song rewrites, re-recordings and remixes, production changes and countless hours of studio time, resulting in what the artist himself calls "the best representation of these turbulent last few years." The album is imbued with lyrical elegance, graceful intellect and outstanding musicianship from a truly innovative and prolific songwriter. Creating what he describes as "songs for the common man," the artist embraced a softer side - in contrast to the record's more rock-oriented predecessor - showcasing a natural progression in his songwriting while retaining the trademark reverb-drenched guitar crunch and nuances of classics 60s rock and in-your-face punk found throughout his catalog.
PAST LIFE CRASHING was recorded with an all-star cast of support musicians, including former Wilco drummer Ken Coomer, vocalist Kathleen Edwards, guitarist Audley Freed (Black Crowes, Cry of Love), bassist Andrew Duplantis (Meat Puppets, Bob Mould, Alejandro Escovedo, Son Volt), and Herring's father, Ben Roi Herring, who contributes vocals, pedal steel and keyboards on the record.
Collin Herring continues to create a prodigious body of heart-wrenching musical work, doing what he loves to do while "getting what is inside of me out," - and building a reputation as one of the preeminent songwriters of our time.
