NASHVILLE, TN. (Top40 Charts/ IFCO) - The 41st annual IFCO (the International Fan Club Organization) Fun Fest held Wednesday, June 4th at 7:00 p.m. at Nashville's
Cadillac Ranch was full of surprises.
The beautiful and sultry hit songstress Benita Hill opened the show with her Garth Brooks cut, "Two Pina Colidas." She was followed by Michael Peterson, the ever popular duo Moore and Moore, Lane Brody, David Church, and by the up-and-coming teenager, Emma Mae Jacob, who amazed the packed house with her range, beauty, and professionalism. Veteran music journalist and personality Robert K. Oermann once again hosted the show.
Jimmie Van Zant rocked the stage and brought the legendary Mel Tillis enthusiastically to his feet in the wings midway through his set. Mel was this year's recipient of the IFCO Tex Ritter Award in honor of his life-long contribution to country music, the music community, and fans everywhere. The award was presented by another legend, Ralph Emery, who won the award in 1981. His award, Emery commented, now resides in the Texas Country Music Hall of Fame.
Fans from across the globe attended the event and were especially enthusiastic about Lynn Anderson's rendition of her hit "(I Never Promised You a) Rose Garden." Moore and Moore lent another surprise when they jumped onstage to sing back up. Lynn later brought veteran songwriter Mentor Williams on stage with her for a duet. Andy Griggs closed the show to a standing ovation, and Joe Bob Barnhill and his band ably handled a variety of artists and songs.
The 2008 IFCO FunFest Show benefitted Nashville's Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt (https://www.vanderbiltchildrens.com/). The hospital was created to give children a place to hope and heal. The focus is on research, education and advocacy, which allows the hospital to provide comprehensive, state-of-the-art care delivered in a nurturing, family-centered environment.
IFCO is an international regulatory body, and is widely regarded as the foremost authority on setting-up and operating fan clubs. Founded in 1967 by Loudilla, Loretta and Kay Johnson, they have since established IFCO as a respected force in the entertainment industry, a clearing house for fan clubs, and consumer watchdog for the fans.
