Nashville, TN. (Top40 Charts/ Universal Records South) - The students at Gibbs High School in Knoxville, Tennessee got a big bonus last week when Joe Nichols performed at their school. The Universal Records South star teamed up with WIVK/Knoxville to raise money in order to upgrade the school's auditorium. The bonus: he dedicated his big hit " Tequila Makes Her Clothes Fall Off" to High School Principal Janice Walker. The good natured principal laughed and cheered along with the several hundred students attending the concert. The city of Knoxville proclaimed it "Joe Nichols Day," and with the aid of local businesses, gave the artist a hero's welcome. Billboards located throughout the city thanked him for his efforts to raise money for the school. He performed on WBIR-TV's highly rated "Live at Five" newscast after visiting WIVK and air personality Gunner. In the end, the event raised more than $6000 to put towards upgrading the facility. "There's nothing like getting in there and performing for a bunch of teenagers," the artist said. "I haven't had that much fun since I was in high school! They really know how to have a good time. And I have to say, they have one of the coolest principals I've ever met." Nichols will kick off his summer tour in support of his current, critically acclaimed CD, Real Things, following a full slate of appearances at next week's annual CMA Music Fest in Nashville.
