Nashville, TN. (Top40 Charts/ Big Machine Records) - Eighteen-year-old singer/songwriter Taylor Swift was the big winner at last night's CMT Music Awards, walking away with the evening's top honor, the Video of the Year Award, as well as the trophy for Female Video of the Year. The Associated Press raved, 'Country princess Taylor Swift reigns at CMT awards.' No one was more surprised by the impressive honors than Taylor herself, who was sitting in the audience surrounded by fans when her name was called. Taylor 's awards were for the video of her 6-week No 1 single 'Our Song,' which she wrote by herself for her 9th grade talent show.

"I never thought it would be on an album, never thought I'd record it, never thought it would be a single, never thought it would be No. 1 and certainly never thought it would win video and female video of the year,' raved Taylor backstage after her big wins. 'Video of the Year! Female Video of the Year! For the first time in my life I'm speechless! I never expected any of this. To the fans, thank you from the bottom of my heart!'

More than 4.5 million fans voted for the CMT Awards, and this morning's Tennessean newspaper lauded Taylor as 'the toast of the industry.' Taylor, who wrote or co-wrote every song on her almost-triple-platinum debut CD, had just returned home for the Awards after a month-long run of tour dates opening for Rascal Flatts. After her performance Friday night, the Fresno Bee raved, "Taylor Swift is the hottest act in country music. None of [the night's] pyrotechnics burned as bright as Swift's star power...as she stood at the stage's edge, soaking in the deafening, high-pitched adoration. Don't expect to see her as an opening act again."

Widely hailed as the first bonafide country music star of the MySpace generation, Taylor recently surpassed the 45 million mark for music streams on her MySpace page, where she is consistently ranked Country's No 1 artist. Her self-titled debut CD has spent 18 weeks so far in the No 1 position atop Billboard's Country CD Sales Chart, and she currently has singles climbing both the country and pop radio charts. Taylor also has 9 songs on iTunes' Best Selling Country chart, including their No 1, No 3, No 4, and No 6 titles. She also has iTunes' No 1 Country album and the No 2, No 3, No 4 and No 7 best-selling videos.

Taylor is the reigning CMA Horizon Award winner, as well as the Nashville Songwriters Association International's Songwriter / Artist of the Year. She leads the field of female nominees for this year's Academy of Country Music Awards with three nominations: Top Female Vocalist, Album of the Year (for her double-platinum self-titled debut CD), and Top New Female Vocalist. In addition to her dates with Rascal Flatts, Taylor has toured with George Strait , Kenny Chesney, Tim McGraw & Faith Hill and Brad Paisley.
