LOS ANGELES (RIAA) - Four artists in four different genres score their first platinum plaques to commemorate sales of 1 million in the U.S. in October. Vanessa Carlton's Be Not Nobody, Kyle Minogue's Fever, Hoobastank's Hoobastank, and Nappy Roots' Watermelon, Chicken, & Gritz were all certified platinum for the first time by the Recording Industry Association of America. Several acts got halfway there in October -- Lil' Flip (Undaground Legend), the Clipse (Lord Willin'), the Vines (Highly Evolved), Styles (A Gangster and a Gentleman), and Good Charlotte (The Young and the Hopeless) each nabbed gold awards for sales of 500,000.
