Nashville, TN. (Top40 Charts/ Sony BMG Nashville) - Last night, on Sony BMG Nashville's annual boat show event during the Country
Radio Seminar, it was announced that recording artist
Craig Morgan will be signing with Sony BMG Nashville. Morgan's appearance on the stage was a surprise to the invitation-only group of industry movers & shakers, who warmly received Morgan, as well as the announcement.
Of the signing, Sony BMG Nashville Chairman Joe Galante hailed, 'It's a rare privilege to welcome a new addition to the roster whose hard work and commitment to the music has enabled him, so early in his career, to build such a strong base with the industry and the fans.'
Fans can look forward to a first single by early summer, with an album by early fall.
Morgan remarked, "I am as excited about this as I was when I signed my first record deal at Atlantic years ago! Sony BMG Nashville is simply the best of the best, and to have this partnership going forward is the greatest way I could think of to get my new music out to the fans. Joe and Butch [Waugh, Sony BMG Nashville executive VP] and everyone at Sony BMG Nashville have already made me feel so welcome, it seems like this has been meant to be for a long time!"
One of country music's best-loved artists, Morgan has made a name for himself with massive radio airplay of his signature hits, including "Almost Home'-which was named Music Row Song of the Year in 2003, the chart-topping summer anthem "Redneck Yacht Club," and "That's What I Love About Sunday"-which spent five weeks at No 1 and was Billboard's Most Played Country Song of the Year in 2005. His current album has spawned three consecutive Top Ten hits: "Little Bit of Life," "Tough," and "International Harvester."
Morgan has performed on the legendary stage of the Grand Ole Opry more than 170 times, and plays over 200 sold-out concerts a year. He spent ten years on active duty in the U.S. Army before launching his music career, and makes a point to perform as often as possible at U.S. military installations both in the U.S. and abroad. He was awarded the USO Merit Award in 2006 for his tireless support of U.S. soldiers and their families.
