NEW YORK, NY. (Top40 Charts/ KOCH Records) - KOCH Records recording artist OTEP is set to hit the road, headlining a new tour to promote its latest album, "The Ascension." The Circus of Democracy Tour will be presented by Hot Topic and will also feature Creature Feature, Eyes Set To Kill and KOCH recording artist Anew Revolution.

About naming the tour The Circus of Democracy, frontwoman Otep Shamaya states, "This is one of those amazingly emotional and inspirational seasons that comes rarely (even once) in a lifetime. It can disappear as quickly as it came if we do not reach out (with both hands) and grab it. Our nation is trapped in 2 wars, our economy is slowly sliding into recession, gas prices are obscenely high, the environment is in chaos, the working class is losing ground, our healthcare system is in shambles, but now we, as citizens, have the opportunity to be involved in a life saving effort for our nation. Never before have there been so many people inspired to take ownership of their country. We've seen what happens when citizens do nothing; elections can be stolen, wars can be launched, & oligarchs can swell their pockets with our national treasures. So as part of our mission to help provoke people into action, I've named the tour The Circus of Democracy. We want people informed, inspired, and involved and to remind them they have the power to change the course of history. All around us the energy is swelling. It feels like we are on the verge of a new American Revolution, only this time waged with thought and spirit rather than guns and cannons."

The band's new single, "Perfectly Flawed," will impact at Active/Modern Rock Radio on April 8th. In addition, the new video for the song "Confrontation" debuted on MTV2's Headbangers' Ball last weekend.

On May 6th, 2008 iTunes will be releasing two tracks that were previously only available on special versions of "The Ascension." The tracks are "Special Pets" and "Perfectly Flawed."

To date, OTEP has sold over 400,000 units, and continues its success with "The Ascension."

National media accolades for "The Ascension" include the following:

"...Otep Shamaya is hot and her guttural scream rivals Slipknot's Corey Taylor... [The rest of the band's] pummeling power chords and break-neck speed-drumming are the icing on this pissed off cake." - Penthouse

"'The Ascension' finds the metal throatwoman fully fired for the beatific vision...Shamaya and bassist eVil J. have shaped the most professional of OTEP's three full-lengths without sacrificing the passion or the poetry." - Los Angeles Times

"[One of the] People You Should Know About" - CNN.com

"...eloquent and necessary..." - Alternative Press

"...their most inspired effort to date...'The Ascension' finds the band in top form and showing levels of musical growth..." - Metal Edge
