Nashville, TN. (Top40 Charts/ Capitol Nashville) - MY LIFE'S BEEN A COUNTRY SONG, the fourth album from Capitol Records Nashville artist Chris Cagle, debuted at No 1 on Billboard's 'Current Country' chart, with 36,600 in first-week sales making it the best-selling country album for the week. The news of the No 1 debut (with a Top Ten country single, 'What Kinda Gone,' still moving up the charts), came as Cagle concludes a two-week album launch promotional tour that has encompassed some of his top sales markets around the country.

He visited the troops in Ft. Hood, TX, appeared on the KTLA "Morning Show' and on national television (CNN Headline News, Fox News Channel) in Los Angeles. Cagle's goal of making his ardent, loyal fan base (known as 'Cagleheads') aware of the February 19 release of MY LIFE'S BEEN A COUNTRY SONG appears to have met with success.

MY LIFE'S BEEN A COUNTRY SONG features cuts from some of Nashville's finest tune-smiths including: George Teren, Craig Wiseman, Brett James, Blair Daly, George Dulaney, Neil Thrasher, Tom Shapiro, Andy Childs and Rhett Akins. The project was produced by music veteran Scott Hendricks.

Of Chris' four recording projects, this is the first CD that Chris has not made a contribution to as a songwriter. 'I haven't stopped writing; I've still got notes on napkins and pages full of ideas for verses and hooks. But, this time, because of my schedule (touring, shows, going to Korea), I just didn't feel like my material was 'ready' to meet the recording schedule,' Cagle introduced. '…and writing a song just to put it on a record is writing for the wrong reason. I believe a song is a bag of attention, and if there's a hole in the bag, you lose the attention, so there can't be any holes. We've found some really great songs from some of country music's best writers and I'm proud to introduce them on this new record.'

During his career, Cagle has graced the country singles charts with numerous hits-including five Top Tens. 'What Kinda Gone' (his debut single from MY LIFE'S BEEN A COUNTRY SONG-currently at No. 9 on the charts) follows the gold recording artist's earlier career chart-toppers 'I Breathe In, I Breathe Out,' 'Laredo,' 'Miss Me Baby,' 'Country By The Grace of God,' 'What A Beautiful Day,' and 'Chicks Dig It.'

Chris will appear at CRS-39 in Nashville and is scheduled to perform a radio industry-only concert at the Global Cafe on Thursday evening March 6.
