Nashville, TN. (Top40 Charts/ Arista Records) - 'A fresh, inviting sound … that begs for repeated listening' is how Billboard describes 'I Don't Love You Like That,' the single from Arista Nashville buzz group, Jypsi, and new fans caught up in the sound and style of this remarkable band of musician siblings won't have to wait much longer for more music, as Jypsi's self-titled album is released digitally on April 8, with a physical CD release following on May 27.
Helmed by producer Blake Chancey, the 12-song debut is a true showcase for the group, all genuine musicians who play their own instruments both in concert and on the album. A family band, Jypsi consists of four siblings – Lillie Mae (lead vocals, fiddle), Amber-Dawn (fiddle, vocals), Scarlett (mandolin), and Frank (lead guitar, vocals) – ranging in age from 16 to 26. All seasoned musicians, Jypsi has been performing as a family since youngest sister Lillie Mae was only three years old.
From the beautiful single now winning new fans, to the tempo, energy, & harmonies of 'Free,' the playfully punchy independence of 'I Do What I Want' and the instrumental breakdown fun of 'Kandi Kitchen' (penned by brother Frank), to a moodily evocative take on the classic 'House of the Rising Sun,' the disc delivers an appropriately striking introduction to an amazing group.
Following a Jypsi performance this past fall in Los Angeles , Radio & Records' R.J. Curtis lauded, 'the lead singer is just 16 and has Linda Ronstadt-like pipes. … As far as musicians go, these kids have serious chops.'
Sporting a vibrant, fashion-forward sense of style that's every bit as head-turning as their music, Jypsi is also the focus of the style page in the March 10 issue of Country Weekly, on sale now.
By way of participating radio stations' 'loyal listener' e-blasts, Jypsi's 'I Don't Love You Like That' is also available as a free download, ending March 12.
