NEW YORK (Top40 Charts/ Verve Records) - Herbie Hancock's Verve album 'River: The Joni Letters' leaps to No 5 on the Billboard 200 chart this week, propelled by the musician's two wins at the GRAMMY Awards February 10th, including the coveted Album of the Year nod.

Sales of the album increased a record 967%, earning Hancock his highest ever position on the chart.

Hancock won his 11th and 12th trophies at the Grammys for Album of the Year and Best Contemporary Jazz Album.

This Friday, Hancock will perform the title track from 'River' with singer Luciana Souza on "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno."
