Washington, DC. (Top40 Charts/ Denise Thimes Official Website) - Jazz vocalist Denise Thimes' international impact continues with an invitation to perform at The White House on Valentine's Day. Joining her in the February 14, 2008 show will be Washington, D.C. musicians Robert Redd on piano, Herman Birney on bass and Lenny Robinson on drums.

After fellow St. Louis native, Diane Williams recommended Thimes to her husband, Tony (the then mayor of Washington) for an event at a dinner at the Kuwaiti Embassy, a chain of events was set in motion. Starting with a trip to the British Embassy to play for the Queen, it has culminated with this recent invitation to Washington, D.C for the President's Valentine's Day Dinner at the White House.

Her career has been driven almost exclusively by word of mouth and her success is no surprise to anyone who has met her and heard her sing.

Thimes' distinctive voice has been described by legendary trumpeter Clark Terry as "rank(ing) with the all-time greats such as Ella, Sassy, Lady Day, Nancy, Dianne, Monica and Carmen." Ross Gentile (Public Radio WSIE 88.7 FM) has described her as singing with "such tenderness and honesty that she has every audience in the palm of her hand." And recently, famed composer and vocalist Jon Hendricks said, "The only thing that Diane Reeves, Diana Krall and even Nancy have on you is a name - you got it my friend."

Denise Thimes' enormous talent, recognized by the jazz media, masters and enthusiasts alike, is now poised to break out with her upcoming CD release entitled Denise Thimes "Live in the Lou."
