Chicago, IL. (Top40 Charts/ Ponderosa Stomp Foundation) - Hideout Juke Joint will host a Ponderosa Stomp benefit concert, with JC Brooks & Uptown Sound, Adam Fitz & The Part Timers and The Stacks all performing sets and soul great and Chicagoan Syl Johnson appearing as a special guest. It's just one of a palate of year-round events leading up the Seventh Annual Ponderosa Stomp, April 29 and 30 at the House of Blues in New Orleans, LA. The festival is two nights of insanerock and roll, funk, soul and rhythm and blues celebrating the unsung heroes of American music.
Syl Johnson has played or recorded with Junior Wells, Elmore James, Jimmy Reed, Freddie King, Magic Sam and the Hi Rhythm Section. He's been sampled by a myriad of today's recording artists, including Michael Jackson, Tupac Shakur, NWA, Will Smith, and KRS-One. His reputation as a storming live performer is equaled only by his place in the deep soul pantheon. He will perform with the Hi Rhythm Section at the Ponderosa Stomp.
Proceeds will go to support the Ponderosa Stomp Foundation, a project of MK Charities, Inc. The Ponderosa Stomp Foundation celebrates the legacy, revitalizes the careers and preserves the history of American music's unsung heroes. Through oral histories with musical stylists, iconoclasts, and trailblazers, and a regular concert series staged at New Orleans' Ogden Museum of Southern Art, among other concerts including its signature annual concert, The Ponderosa Stomp Foundation provides musical legends a platform to perform and expose audiences to their pioneering cultural contributions to American contemporary music.
